The United Methodist Health Ministry Fund, created with proceeds from the sale of Wesley Hospital in 1986, works with all of its resources to fulfill its mission of Healthy Kansans through strategic and cooperative philanthropy guided by Christian principles. The fund's mission is healthy Kansans through cooperative and strategic philanthropy guided by Christian principles. The Health Ministry Fund defines health as a state of complete physical, mental, spiritual, and social well-being and not mere absence of disease or infirmity. (Adapted from World Health Organization definition)

Seeking to help clergy, clergy spouses, and church staff recognize the importance of holistic self-care to their ability to provide effective, ongoing care to others, the United Methodist Health Ministry Fund engaged in a multi-year partnership with the Kansas University School of Medicine-Wichita to develop and disseminate a statewide series of Self-Care Covenant Workshops.
