Bishop Scott Jones challenged every congregation in the Great Plains Area, which includes United Methodists in Nebraska and Kansas, to do something to raise funds for Imagine No Malaria, an initiative of the United Methodist Church to end the disease on the continent of Africa. As of June 30, 2014, $623,040.14 has been collected to support the campaign. Hundreds of churches have taken part. If your congregation is missing from the Malaria Partners page, please let us know by contacting email@example.com.
Every 60 seconds, malaria claims a life in Africa. It kills an estimated 655,000 people each year, most of them children under 5 and pregnant women. Malaria is caused by a parasite transmitted through the bite of a female anopheles mosquito.
But, malaria is 100 percent preventable, treatable and beatable!
Imagine No Malaria is an extraordinary ministry of The United Methodist Church, putting our faith into action to end preventable deaths by malaria in Africa, especially the death of a child or a mother.
"God can do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine." Ephesians 3:20
