Know Your Neighbor

Congregations in the Great Plains Conference have free access to demographic information through a service called MissionInsite.

One of the first steps in transforming or growing a church is knowing the context of the church community. Community demographics shift over time; if a church doesn’t recognize that shift and develop new ministries to appeal to the changing demographics, the church will have a slim chance of growing. Discovering the reality of who is in your community may be shocking and uncomfortable, but it is invaluable and necessary for successful ministry.

From the MissionInsite website

"Developing strategies that effectively carry out your missional calling is no easy task in today’s ever-changing world. Not only do you need quick and easy access to information that will provide a proper understanding of your surrounding community and the existing congregants within your mission area, you also need to understand how they relate to one another. That’s where MissionInsite (MI) comes in!

Whether you are a local church or denominational agency, MissionInsite has all the tools you need to conduct your own mission discovery and analysis in real-time."

MissionInsite provides congregations a cost-effective, innovative system that includes:

  • High-quality demographic research
    Who is my neighbor?
  • Real-time congregant analysis
Where do the current members live and what is their demographic?
  • Easy-to-use web-based discovery tools
How does my congregation and the community match up … or not?
  • Mosaic profiles
What types of outreach and ministries would be the most effective for building the Kingdom in our community?

How to Register

Great Plains United Methodist Conference churches who previously registered and still have their current login information should be able to access all of their information. There is no need to re-register. However, if your church has registered and you no longer have the login information, contact the conference office to reset your account. If your church has not registered for MissionInsite previously, follow the instructions here. Additional registration information is available here.

For help registering, contact: Rev. Nathan Stanton, coordinator for new church development, or Lydia Harbutz.
