The Great Plains Conference has been affected deeply by recent natural disasters of blizzards, flooding, and tornadoes. Thank you for your tireless efforts within your church and community to respond to both immediate and long-term needs as they continue to arise.
The Clergy Excellence team invites you to participate in a retreat designed for Great Plains Conference clergy serving in areas that have been affected by these events. The retreat is called "After the Storm" and grew out of the awareness that following the widespread spring blizzards and flooding in Nebraska, a response for the wellbeing of clergy serving in these areas was needed. Floods and tornadoes in Kansas have followed since then, and clergy in these areas have also been deeply affected.
The purpose of this retreat is to offer a time of respite and healing for you who have been offering pastoral care to congregation(s) and communities and have been giving oversight to the relief efforts. The design of the retreat is to provide space for stories to be shared – those of hope, those where healing has occurred – as well as a safe space to share frustrations, burn-out, and disappointments.
The retreat is September 3-5 and will be held at Saint Benedict's Center in Schuyler NE. Information about St. Benedict’s Center can be found here.
In addition to times for worship and reflection, the content of the retreat includes:
We hope you consider attending this retreat. The cost is only $25 for this two-night retreat. Please register here by August 16 to reserve your place, as limited space is available.
