Clergy Faith and Wellness: address your stress

"I just can't do it anymore," — a statement made by a clergy colleague.

Maybe you've made the statement at some point in ministry, as well.

There are times when being clergy is an incredible gift, an honor, a calling that exceeds any expectation.

There are times when being clergy is exhausting, overwhelming, and frustrating. The results of the 2019 Clergy Well-Being survey conducted by Wespath were recently shared. Did you notice it said, "Stress continues to be a factor, with notable factors being the appointment process, work/life balance, and job satisfaction.

Stress can affect all aspects of clergy life...your physical, spiritual, mental, emotional, social, and financial well-being. You have permission to address the stress in your life. There is strength in naming the stress with God, with yourself, with a trusted companion, and/or with a therapist. For eligible clergy, there is also assistance available through the Employee Assistance Program.

God has called you for such a time as this. You know better than anyone else what you need to live out the call God has placed on your life.

Jesus asked those who came to him, "What do you want me to do for you?"

How would you answer that today?

Grace and peace,
