United Methodist Communications seeks senior training & development specialist


United Methodist Communications, a General Agency of The United Methodist Church, is seeking a senior training & development specialist.

UMCOM is seeking an experienced candidate with a solid knowledge of The United Methodist Church, its agencies, theology and structure, to serve as a senior training and development specialist. This individual will be responsible for design, development and delivery of training content and tools that address the communications training needs of The United Methodist Church and United Methodist Communications. Emphasis will be on communications training with a focus on development of training programs (online, face-to-face and blended), resources and assistance for local churches, districts, US Annual Conferences and Central Conferences. This individual must have very strong presentation skills and the ability to deliver trainings, workshops and classes with


  • At least a bachelor’s degree in adult learning, training and online learning, instructional design and course development, or a related field. A candidate with proven on the job experience of Four years or more may be considered.
  • Four years of experience in education with adult learners, training online and blended learning, instructional design, communications and digital technology is required
  • Must possess strong presentation skills to individuals and groups
  • Proficiency in Moodle or similar Learning Management System is required
  • Proficiency in online course creation software is required, Articulate Storyline or Articulate 360 preferred
  • Excellent diplomatic verbal and written communications skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Professional Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of image editing programs (Photoshop of similar), desktop publishing (Adobe InDesign), audio/video applications (Camtasia or similar) and web-based content management systems is preferred
  • Solid knowledge of the United Methodist Church, its agencies, and various levels of leadership, theology, structure and programs is needed
