Today's Lectionary Text

Proverbs 2:6-8

For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

Today's Devotional

With all that we are blessed to receive from the Lord each of can immediately list an endless array of things that He has blessed us with. What may come to mind for many of us might be our families and our health among those blessings that we have received.

These of course are just a few of what would come to mind. We all have so much to be thankful for. Each day that we awake should be one where we first of all thank the Lord for another day. While it may not go exactly the way we want it to, nonetheless He didn’t have to give us another day.

I am in the time and season of my life where I am more and more thankful for all that the Lord has done for me. What really has come into focus more than anything else a greater understanding of just who and what he means to me.

With maturity in our lives comes one of the most precious blessings of all. wisdom. Not the wisdom that we may feel we have gained over life. But the wisdom that God very gently sprinkles over us daily. He sprinkles his wisdom on us so that we may gain insight as to the true magnitude of his love.

As each of us bathe in shower of His wisdom, let us do so knowing that in all things God provides us with his guidance, he promises to lead us along a path of sound Godly judgment and He shall keep and preserve us on the path of righteousness.

Prayer for Reflection

Heavenly Father we thank you for your love, your guidance and your wisdom. The wisdom to speak into our lives. The wisdom to direct and guide us in the ways that are pleasing in your sight. May we daily seek you first and do so knowing that as you lead us you do so out of your love and wisdom. Amen.
