Today's Devotional

Around this time last year, I found out I had cancer and whether I intended it or not, I brought you all along on this project. It’s only fair then that as you have read about my struggles you get to share in the celebration. I’m done with chemotherapy, immunotherapy and surgeries and have been set free, or at least put on a longer leash, to be monitored closely for the next five years for recurrence.

The day I received my diagnosis I had a conversation with God, and by conversation, I mean I spoke out loud and hoped He was listening. I remember saying, “OK God, but we are going to do this together.” And he was there every step of the way.

He was there in the sweet gifts and flowers sent to me by my family on the East Coast. He was there in the friends and church members who sent me encouraging notes. He was there in the prayers of my prayer warriors. He was there in the expertise of my oncologist. He was there in not only my favorite chemo nurse but in all the staff I encountered at the cancer center. He was there in the coworkers who prayed for me and were patient with me as I struggled with side effects including the dreaded brain fog. He was there in my family. My mom took me to most of my chemo appointments but my husband, dad, and sisters each took a turn or two. He was there in the emails and prayers I have received from many of you. It has been so very humbling to have you share your stories with me and I have felt the power of your prayers.
So, it’s only fair as I’ve dragged you along in this that you get to share in the celebration. Go ahead and have a treat today to celebrate with me. Our God is good, our God is faithful. All the time He is good and faithful.
