Today's Lectionary Text

Luke 12:27-28

Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith!

Today's Devotional

SLOW DOWN…….No seriously slow down.

Before reading this take a deep breath, and try to stop thinking about what time it is.

Just breathe and be present in this moment.

This past week my amazing parents visited my husband and I, and it was a LOT of fun. Yet, as I am reflecting on the time I had with them, I am realizing we didn't slow down and just enjoy being with each other as much as we should.

A moment I keep kicking myself for was as we were going to my favorite coffee shop we were stopped at a light and I was sooooo impatient! We sat there for what felt like forever and thought about how we might not make it to our next stop in time or we wouldn't have enough time at lunch to make it to the other side of town like I wanted. As I play this time out in my head it sounds so foolish of myself to not just enjoy the time I had with them by relaxing at the light and being fully present.

As most of us do, I have a problem with patience. So how do we even begin to fix that? Practice makes perfect right? Ehh well maybe not perfect because we are humans after all but practice helps that's for sure. Deny yourself what you want, kinda like fasting. We need to choose to do what we don't want to because if we practice, we can react with patience when life doesn't give us what we want.

Ok again, Deep breath.

Be present and enjoy God's beauty in every moment.
