Today's Lectionary TextEphesians 2:10For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.![]() Today's DevotionalIt is so easy for us to compare ourselves to others. We can get so caught up watching everyone’s life and wishing that we have our life figured out or that we can be good at what they are good at, but we forget that each of us has different gifts and are made unique. I struggle with comparing myself to others a lot. it has become a really bad habit. I find myself looking at others that know exactly what they want to do with their lives while I am still figuring that out. I compare myself, whether it is to my cross-country teammates, my faith to others, or to my classmates who are understanding the material. I find myself always coming to the same conclusion, which is that I will never be enough. I have had many conversations with some people that I look up to and that I am close with about this topic. Some of these people include my high school cross-country coaches, my youth directors, my best friend, the chaplain at Newman University, and one of the Micah Corps coordinators. Those conversations with them mean so much to me, because there is so much to each of us that we do not see because we are busy criticizing everything about us. Every single one of us have unique gifts that make us who we are, we will always be enough no matter what, and we are all made the way God intended. I encourage everyone to think about a time when you compared yourself to others. I also encourage everyone to think about your gifts and talents that you bring to society and make you who you are. -Ariel Johnson Prayer for ReflectionLoving God, Thank you for making us how you intended. Help us realize that we are enough, and that we have unique gifts to bring to society. Amen.
