Today's Devotional

The only constant in life is change or that’s what I’ve always been told. Sometimes I’m good with change and others not so much. I suppose it depends on whether I’m leading that change or I see the need for it. It’s human nature.

When I started at the conference one of the very first things I did was to see if we could change the daily devotion from a daily Bible verse into a true daily devotion. I’m happy to say that when I sent a tentative call out to the clergy and laity in our conference, that call was answered. For over two years we have published daily devotions written by United Methodists in Nebraska and Kansas speaking to your experience, sharing your wisdom, and maybe getting to know each other a little better.

We have shared your stories of faith, what scripture means to you and how your understanding of being the church in the world today has grown through your life experience and through a global pandemic. We want to continue that tradition, but we also want to add space to celebrate and experience other ways of exploring our faith.

Stories are important, they are an essential part of our faith. The stories of the Bible, the faith stories of our parents, grandparents, and ancestors told down through family lines keep us grounded. But we wanted to make room for new ways of experiencing faith.

We need your help with Team Tuesday. We want to celebrate with you the fantastic teams you work with. It may be a team you work with every day at your place of employment that fills your heart and makes you glad to get up and go back every morning because what you do matters. It could be a team at church that fills your cup to overflowing because it blesses you just as much as it blesses others. It might even be a team you play on as part of a way to blow off steam and it’s more about the long-time friendships than about the score on the board.

What about that group got you interested to join? What keeps you interested and what keeps you coming back? What can we as a church learn from these types of groups?

We know the church isn’t a building it’s the people!

Team Tuesday is meant to be all about these groups. We all have them; we all need them. We would love for you to share with us the out-of-the-box ways that God has nudged you outside of the sanctuary or Sunday school room.

We can’t wait to hear about your teams!
