Today's Lectionary Text
James 2:20Faith without works is dead.
“Rebuilding lives, homes and facilities with God’s love and our hands.“
The best kept secret of the UMC is NOMADS (Nomads on Mission Active in Divine Service).
We had been looking for a mission organization to work with when we retired. Nothing seemed right. Then at Annual Conference we spotted a booth back in the corner advertising NOMADS. Yes! This is it!
NOMADS started in 1988 when a group of bored snowbirds went looking for something to do.
NOMADS work three-week projects all across the nation at camps, retreat centers, children’s homes and churches. The work is mainly maintenance work that these agencies do not have the time or funds to accomplish. We sign up to go where we want to go. WE can take our camper and work one project or, as many do, we can become “full-timers” and go from one project to the next. There is always work for everyone regardless of abilities and skills.
We like to say we are Nice Old Methodists Actually Doing Something!

Prayer for Reflection
Thank you God for the abilities you give us to serve others. Thank you for opportunities we have to bless others in your name.
