Today's Lectionary Text
Be strong and bold; have no fear or dread of them, because it is the Lord your God who goes with you; he will not fail you or forsake you.”
Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel: “Be strong and bold, for you are the one who will go with this people into the land that the Lord has sworn to their ancestors to give them; and you will put them in possession of it. It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
The theme for this year’s Laity Summit is “Courage to Thrive.” We are tired of survival mentality and feeling like we are headed backwards. A new normal continues to be built. Through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ we are thriving! We need courage and action. It is infectious and inspirational. Life might feel like survival right now, but through our discipleship journey in Christ we are thriving! God’s abundant grace, mercy and love give us glimpses into this. Every day, every week, every year is big! How can courageous faith be displayed? What’s required of us as followers of Christ? This is our time, and it is exciting to think about how we can step boldly into this new normal and be the courageous church!
We invite you to read and meditate on Deuteronomy 31:6-8.
6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
7 Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the presence of all Israel, “Be strong and courageous, for you must go with this people into the land that the Lord swore to their ancestors to give them, and you must divide it among them as their inheritance. 8 The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

Prayer for Reflection
Thank You loving Father that You never change. Help me to abide in Christ knowing that His grace is sufficient for every challenge in life, and may I learn the lessons you desire to teach me, so that I may mature in the faith, by trusting Your word and obeying Your commands.
