Today's Lectionary TextHebrews 1:1-12 (CEB)God spoke to us through a Son. The imprint of God’s being. (v. 2 &3b) ![]() Today's DevotionalI’m sure you have heard mention a phrase like this one “Nathan Stanton left heavy footprints on my heart and soul" (which he did). The profoundness of one individual who leaves his mark upon someone else is not widespread. It happens every now and then, and our lives are forever changed because of the imprint of their life on ours. I just love the fact that Jesus is the very imprint of God. Just a couple of days ago, we celebrated the birth of Jesus and retold the story with awe and wonder. This time of year, we focus on the baby Jesus, and it’s Jesus in that form of a baby that stills our attention. Not Him as the Messiah, the Holy One, Emmanuel, yet a baby. A baby – to which we sing, Infant holy, infant lowly, for His bed a cattle stall; oxen lowing, little knowing, Christ the babe is Lord of all. (United Methodist Hymnal, # 229, by Edith M. G. Reed, 1925). Jesus was and is the very imprint of God. The very imprint – no different variation. Such wonderous love God had and has for us, that He revealed Himself in Jesus. The very imprint of God – what wonderous love that is! -- Rev. Hollie Tapley, disaster response coordinator Prayer for ReflectionCreator God, whose very imprint came into flesh and changed the course of history. May our lives be built upon the imprints of those who have touched us, and who continue to touch us today. Thank you for their imprints!! Amen.
