Today's Lectionary TextPsalm 15Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent?Who may live on your holy mountain? The one whose walk is blameless, who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from their heart; whose tongue utters no slander, who does no wrong to a neighbor, and casts no slur on others; who despises a vile person but honors those who fear the Lord; who keeps an oath even when it hurts, and does not change their mind; who lends money to the poor without interest; who does not accept a bribe against the innocent. Whoever does these things will never be shaken. ![]() Today's Devotional
The first month of the new year, 2023, is coming to a close. Resolutions that were made a month ago may be well on the way to becoming habits or may have been left behind already as the busy days press in with habits from years before.
It isn’t easy to make long-lasting changes in the things we focus on and the habits of behavior that we engage in. When it comes to becoming who God wants us to be, we don’t have to wander in the dark and we don’t have to do it alone. God tells us in God’s word exactly who we are created to be and exactly what we should focus on in order to make the changes and develop the habits we need to be that person. And we aren’t left to do it alone. The Holy Spirit is with us every step of the way. Prayer for ReflectionHoly God, you tell us in your word who you want us to be and what you want us to do - how you want us to live. Give us your strength and courage and fill us with your Holy Spirit so that we can dwell in your sacred tent on your holy mountain. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.
