Today's Lectionary TextMark 10:32-34 (CEB)Jesus and his disciples were on the road, going up to Jerusalem, with Jesus in the lead. The disciples were amazed while the others following behind were afraid. Taking the Twelve aside again, he told them what was about to happen to him. “Look!” he said. “We’re going up to Jerusalem. The Human One will be handed over to the chief priests and the legal experts. They will condemn him to death and hand him over to the Gentiles. They will ridicule him, spit on him, torture him, and kill him. After three days, he will rise up.”Today's Reflective Questions
![]() Today's DevotionalThis Week's Lenten Focus: DiscernmentThis Lenten season, Bishop David Wilson, along with some conference staff and members of the laity, are inviting the people of the Great Plains Conference and beyond to “Pay Attention to God’s Voice” during this season of Lent. The theme for this week is Discernment. “To come into silence is to come into the presence of the Divine.” (John O’Donohue). The Spiritual Discipline of Discernment calls us into the presence of the Divine. During the Lenten Season, we follow the steps of Jesus into the wilderness as we wander around in the barren land. We open our souls (discernment) to hear from Him during these days and hours of self-examination and repentance. We lean into discerning the Words we hear and how we will live as Resurrection people each and every day.Rev. Hollie Tapleyhtapley@greatplainsumc.org and Cesar Duran cduran@greatplainsumc.org
Invitation to Go DeeperEach day this week, use the provided Lenten passage and the three questions above to listen and discern what is revealed to you during your time of examination and repentance. Prayer for ReflectionGod of grace and glory, we read this passage and weep at how You were treated. You were ridiculed, spit on, tortured to the point of death. Forgive us, we pray for treating those who are different from us the same way. We should be walking to the cross for our treatment of others, yet You loved us so much, You took all of those sins and downfalls upon Yourself. We are not worthy. Help us to love like You, Jesus. Amen.
