Today's Lectionary TextActs 2:18Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.1 Corinthians 12:7Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.![]() Today's Devotional
The wonder of God residing in each of us, no matter who we are, is too wonderful to fully comprehend. Imagine, God who created all things resides in you! That is amazing, and yet on Pentecost God the Holy Spirit entered each believer and the Holy Spirit has continued to dwell within each person who follows Christ ever since that day.
Not only does God the Holy Spirit dwell in us, but they also give us spiritual gifts for the common good. We are each gifted by the Holy Spirit. It is by being open to the Holy Spirit working in our lives and by expressing the gifts the Holy Spirit gives us that we do our part of the work of God in our world. That is utterly amazing! We are partners with God in making our world a better place and in helping bring people into relationship and deeper relationship with God. I often ask myself, and sometimes ask God, are you sure you want me involved in this process of helping transform the world? I mean, you see everything I do … everything, including when I get it catastrophically wrong?! And yet, much to my surprise, God continues to partner with me in this journey of life. And since that’s true, God will certainly partner with you too, leading you, teaching you, and empowering you to do the work of the kingdom of God on Earth. -- A.G. Turner
