Minority Students' Scholarship
This scholarship honors the late Nebraska State Senator Edward R. Danner who served in the Nebraska Unicameral during the U.S. Civil Rights era of the 1960's. Senator Danner introduced numerous bills that made discrimination on the basis of skin color illegal. In 1965, Danner's bill creating Nebraska's Fair Employment Act was passed. He also co-sponsored the fair housing practices bill which passed in 1969. It established the Nebraska Equal Opportunity Commission to investigate civil rights violations.
The Danner Scholarship is a $1000 per year ($500 per semester)
renewable scholarship for a maximum of four years.
Applications for 2021 are now open.
This is a fillable application and should be saved before closing otherwise all data will be lost. We highly recommend using the fillable application rather than handwriting as often times handwriting is very hard for the selection committee to read and can disqualify an applicant especially if we are unable to reach them.
All applications are due no later than March 26, 2021. Any application received after March 31, 2021 even if postmarked by March 26, 2021 will not be considered for selection.
There is a Checklist provided on page 1 of the application to help ensure full completion of the application and submitted required documents.

The selection committee will make selections and applicants will be notified in early May.

The student must maintain a continuous semester enrollment, a GPA of 3.0 or higher and prior to the beginning of each fall semester submit a letter requesting a renewal stating how you are doing in college and what leadership, volunteerism and/or work you have maintained while in college along with a college transcript with the cumulative GPA listed. Renewal funds are not automatically sent without your letter. transcript/grades and continuous semester enrollment. The information may be mailed to Missouri River District, 7318 Harrison Street, Omaha, NE 68128 or emailed to email@example.com.
Please do not submit renewal documents until after the finish of the 2nd semester of the current school year.
Renewals need to be received by August 1st of the fall semester.
Renewals must be made yearly and if not done so the remainder of the scholarship is forfeited.
