Course: Fresh Expressions: How Laity Lead in a Changing Culture
The course offering will aim to help define the roles for laity, which are pioneer, supporter or permission-giver, with a team launching a Fresh Expression. Laity will develop and identify gifts and graces that can meet the unchurched and begin a discipleship journey.
The course will help participants develop a deeper understanding of their Fresh Expression and role within a church movement. All laity and clergy are invited!
Location, Dates and Times: 3 hours online (one week before or after event) and 7 hours in-person on Saturday, December 7 at Hastings First United Methodist Church, 614 N. Hastings, Hastings, NE
Mitch Marcello - Fresh Expressions trainer and Director of the Acts Network
Shane Warta - Coordinator of Lay Leadership, Great Plains UMC Conference
Class Design: Within the online Moodle classroom, articles for discussion will be provided for class dialogue and mutual learning. The articles will aid in defining roles, providing a Wesleyan historical context and the theology of play. The in-person training aims to be a time of spiritual call and discovery with others as we all learn experientially.
