Christopher James “Chris” Nord, 47, Great Plains Conference clergy. Born November 20, 1975; died February 16, 2023.
Nord received bachelor’s degrees in political science, history and pre-law from Kansas State University and a doctorate of jurisprudence from Washburn University. He was attending Saint Paul School of Theology to obtain his masters of divinity degree and was a local pastor for Rossville United Methodist Church at the time of his death.
He served in the Army, 22nd Infantry Regiment, for three years and earned Soldier of the Year while stationed at Fort Hood, Texas.
He married Shari Combs on Dec. 10, 2022. Other survivors include his daughters, Emma and Vallery Nord.
A memorial ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 25, at Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church, 7433 SW 29th St., Topeka. The family will receive friends for an hour before the service at the church.
