Missouri River District Lay Servant Ministries Classes

How Can I Learn to Lead Like Jesus?

You are invited to a rare leadership training opportunity in our Great Plains area. The course is called “Lead Like Jesus” and includes a book by the same name. To keep the registration fee for the 10+ hour course at only $50, the Great Plains United Methodist Men are underwriting travel expenses for the keynote presenter. Jim Boesch is a retired corporate trainer and now with the Deployed Staff of the UMMen General Commission. A detailed flyer about the course is available at the Lead Like Jesus link at:  www.greatplainsumc.org/ummen. A reduced local hotel rate is also available. Advanced Lay Servant class and CEU’s are approved.

The course is for both men and women who wish to learn more about the leadership traits of our Lord and Savior, traits which can very much apply to our personal, community and professional lives. Course hours are Friday evening 7-9:30pm, August 16 and Saturday, August 17, 8:30-4pm, in McPherson, Kansas.

Questions: Craig Nordaker (402) 453-6666.

Mission u

A request was made by Mission u that their events be considered an advanced course for lay servant's renewal certifications hours. The following is the response from the Conference Lay Servant Committee:

At our last Great Plains Conference Committee on lay servant ministries meeting on Feb. 25, the committee approved the Mission u class for renewal of LSM certification, but it may only be used once for this purpose. While we believe this program is valuable to the mission of the church, lay lervant ministries focus is on developing leadership and discipleship skills in support of the local church.
