Interim staff in place as site council seeks new camp director

Cheri Wilson left her position as office manager at Camp Comeca, effective Dec. 18. Her work over the last six months was instrumental in establishing office procedures for the camp. Jennifer, Chris and Katlyn Sunde continue in residence at the camp. Under the direction of Sara Shaw, coordinator of camping ministries for the Great Plains Conference, they and Great Plains Camp Liaison Josey Hoyt will guide the ministry of the camp until a site director is hired.

The Great Plains Conference remains committed to providing outstanding hospitality and a formative Christian camping experience at Comeca. The Board of Great Plains United Methodist Camps, Inc., chaired by the Rev. Tom Lucas, is working with the site council and the Great Plains Coordinator of Camping Ministries to plan a financially sound future for the camp.

"Deep change is a difficult and sometimes painful process," said the Rev. Evelyn Fisher, director of Congregational Excellence. "The Great Plains Conference has made the development of leaders through camping ministry a high missional priority, and a revitalized camping program at Comeca is an important component of that ministry. We will continue to work together and pray for the best interests of all involved."
