More than 40 church groups participated in a ministry fair at Valley View United Methodist Church in Overland Park on Oct. 27.

Representatives from each group staffed the displays and answered questions in order to encourage others to join.

There were three categories of displays: Spiritual Growth, Outreach and Fellowship.

The Spiritual Growth displays included Sunday School classes, Bible study groups, prayer groups, Stephen Ministers, etc.

The Outreach display included Hope Chest (the church food pantry), Special Needs Ministry, adult mission trips, Board of Church and Society issues and serving the hungry at Central UMC in Kansas City, Kan.

The Fellowship displays were provided by the Book Club, quilters, movie groups and dinner groups.

Groups such as United Methodist Women and United Methodist Men, both of which provide opportunities for support and growth in all three categories, were also present at the fair.

Of course, in the center of the room were coffee and rolls, which are a weekly staple at Valley View. Good information was shared between the groups.
