Imagine No Malaria (INM) is an extraordinary ministry of The United Methodist Church, putting our faith into action to end preventable deaths by malaria in Africa, especially the deaths of children.
Every 60 seconds, malaria claims a life in Africa. It kills an estimated 655,000 people each year, most of them children younger than five and pregnant women. Malaria is caused by a parasite transmitted through the bite of a female anopheles mosquito.
However, malaria is preventable, treatable and beatable! You can learn more at www.imaginenomalaria.org.
Bishop Scott Jones challenged every church in the Great Plains Area to do something for INM in 2013. There is still time to meet this challenge.
Christmas is the season of giving and offers many opportunities for giving. The Shoot for No Malaria website offers resources to help you be creative about your church’s effort. It could be a special offering or a soup supper and caroling party. Let creativity be your guide.
The goal is participation by all the Kansas and Nebraska United Methodist congregations to help end the impact of malaria around the globe.
