The final annual meeting of the Kansas West Conference United Methodist Women was Sept. 28 at College Hill United Methodist Church in Wichita. More than 200 women met and celebrated the rich history of UMW mission work in the conference. Harriett Jane Olson, CEO and president of the national organization, was the keynote speaker.

Four of the past conference UMW presidents attended the meeting: Betty Hodson, Jo Eva McClellan, Thelma Miller and Anita Turner.

At ceremonies during the final meeting, the retiring officers were honored as well as affirming the slate of officers for the new Great Plains United Methodist Women.

The day brought many opportunities to remember and fellowship with old friends and look forward to meeting new friends from the Kansas East and Nebraska conferences. A uniting conference of the Kansas West, Kansas East and Nebraska UMWs Oct. 12 in Kearney, Neb., provided a chance to get to know each other.
