Bishop writes open letter about immigration issues

2/22/2018

The United States continues to struggle with issues surrounding immigration. In recent weeks, the U.S. Senate has voted on multiple proposals that would have extended the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. However, disagreements on other aspects of immigration policy have stalled further action. Now, a March 5 deadline looms even as Congress continues to debate, and the courts continue to hear cases.

Bishop Ruben Saenz Jr. has issued the following open letter to the people of the Great Plains Conference. In it, he recognizes people on both sides of the immigration debate and urges the people of Kansas and Nebraska to reach out to lawmakers and to make a concerted effort to pray for a fair and just resolution to immigration issues and for the people caught in the middle of this debate.
