Bishops seek resolution to crisis along southern border

10/11/2019

The South Central Jurisdiction College of Bishops issued a letter today addressing concerns along the southern border of the United States.

The bishops called for policy changes to address what they called a humanitarian crisis.

"Christian teaching tells us that realities that forcibly displace and dehumanize people must spur us to practical concern and action," the bishops wrote. "Our actions must be more than just words and prayers, but rather care that hospitably tends to their wounds, needs, fears and hopes.

The bishops called for an end to the separation of families and urged leaders to ensure compassionate care for the health and welfare of children, among other policy pursuits.
