Pastoral Leadership interns share experience - Greg Reffner

9/22/2016

The Pastoral Leadership internship program is for young adults aged 18-22. This ten-week program will provide young leaders the opportunity to experience pastoral work in the most “hands-on” way possible while being supported by a mentoring pastor and a teaching congregation. Greg Reffner served at Harper and Argonia (Kansas) UMCs for the summer of 2016.

Being prayed over on my last Sunday in Harper.
A shot of the sanctuary at around 7 a.m. on Sunday
morning. Depicting time spent in prayer and worship
before services to "warm the room."
Our structure that served as a visual aid
for our sermon series. We built on to it
each week with each sermon, then at the
end took it away and put pictures of the
congregation around the worship space
to emphasize ourselves as ekklesia, not
the physical church building.
Our summer sermon series "Ekklesia"
mapped out. I ended up preaching six
Sundays.
Me doing children's time one Sunday. Children's time
always stressed me out so I'm glad they got a shot
of everyone smiling!
Me playing an original composition on my last Sunday
in Harper. "Stories of Summer" is a musical testimony
to the way God moved in and through the Argonia and
Harper congregations.
A slightly crooked photo of me preaching one Sunday.
Conferring with the liturgist on the scripture reading for
the morning.
