Sensory Prayer

Prayer

God who is all seeing, be our eyes today that we might see your way forward for your people, your church and your world.
What we see changes our perception and drives our direction.
What we see colors our creative and collaborative spirit.
What we see calls that which is shadow into the light.
What we see is born of God as we seek the Holy together.
Bless the eyes of our hearts, Living Lord, that we might see through the lens of your Holy Spirit the road you would have us walk, the journey you would invite us to as we work and pray. With singular focus of love and grace, we yield ourselves this day! Amen.

Be Thou My Vision
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light

Prayer Practice

This week you are invited to take a moment to pray through your senses. Choose one of these suggested experiential prayer practices or come up with one of your own.

  • Hear Taizé chants or worship songs as you meditate.
  • Hold stones or glass beads to symbolize a hard problem, place it near the cross.
  • Repeat hymns as prayers without music, spoken or silent.
  • Place tea lights in front of news, empty photo frame or photo of church or community.
