Great Plains Conference Response

Bishop Ruben Saenz Jr. has made a plea to United Methodists in the Great Plains Conference to provide financial assistance for refugees fleeing Ukraine because of the Russian invasion into the country.

The letter below shares the details of how to donate money to help refugees.

  • Donate directly by going to this address: https://umcmission.org/advance-project/982450/. The Advance number is 982450. I am also asking our churches to hold a Special Offering in support of this effort during one Sunday in March.
  • Mail donations to the Great Plains Conference office at P.O. Box 4837, Topeka, KS, 66604. Please remember to write “UMCOR #982450” on the memo line.
  • Money also can be sent with that notation with your church’s remittance forms.

Resources from the United Methodist Church

United Methodists across the globe are condemning the Russian invasion of Ukraine. As Christians “we believe war is incompatible with the teachings and example of Christ. We therefore reject war as an instrument of national foreign policy.” (2016 Book of Discipline, Social Principles ¶165.C). We also know our God stands with the oppressed and calls on us to support them. See some of the ways United Methodist leaders, organizations and individuals are responding to the invasion of Ukraine through their prayer, aid and witness.

The United Methodist Church has compiled articles, statements and resources for standing for peace in Ukraine.
